On Wednesdays We Wear Pink | Gel Manicure

We had to get our nails done in pink with a gold accent for the wedding this past weekend. I went to a nail salon and got the gel nail polish mani. This was my first time getting this gel manicure. It was an interesting experience.

The Process:
1) They apply a primer, then place nails in the UV light dryer
2) Apply one coat of color, then place nails in UV light dryer
3) Repeat step 2, two more times for a total of 3 coats
4) A top coat is applied, then placed in UV light dryer again.
5) Your nails are done, dry, and ready to go!
No messes, no fusses!

Bridesmaid Hair and Makeup

This past weekend I was in Puerto Rico baby! I was there for a wedding. I had the honor of being one of the bridesmaids for her big day.

Since it was a sunset wedding on the beach, we had darker eye makeup with a palish lip. The makeup artist used Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Fiji, Nars Stick Concealer, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer, and Benefit Rockateur blush. They also applied a lot of highlighter. For the mascara, there was one coat of the Marc Jacob mascara, and then false lashes were applied. Eye's and lips had a mixture of things so I am not sure what was used.

From above, you can see my hair was in ringlet curls. After they were released, it was all placed in the back. A braid was done on the right side of my hair as seen below.

Here is the final look with the dress!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink | Revlon Pink Pout

Today is the third installment of On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. I have on Revlon Pink Pout, which is  a cool, light pink lipstick with a matte formula. It feels a little dry on the lips and does emphasize dry patches and lines; however this can be avoided if you exfoliate your lips beforehand.
I did not apply too much of it because the color can wash me out and not look good, so I just dab it on.

I have read that Revlon Pink Pout is a dupe for MAC Snob. I have not tested them out per se, but have seen the similarities online. So if you want a budget friendly cult favorite, go for Revlon Pink Pout!

If Only 5 Products Allowed For The Rest of My Life

If I could only have 5 makeup products for the rest of my life, I would have a foundation, blush, eyebrow product, mascara, and lipstick. Of course it would not be specifically these products in the picture above, but any kind of combination.

Unfortunately, I can't just wear a BB cream or skip foundation and call it a day. I have lots of post acne marks, active breakouts, and redness, that a concealer alone would not cover. Thats why I prefer having foundation and skipping the concealer as I can get a complete coverage. L'Oreal True Match Foundation is great, but I would not call it my top foundation. I have to buy my perfect foundation, but will do it once my other ones run out.

Blush is something that is an important aspect in my routine. If I do not have blush on, I look sick. I don't mind skipping the bronzer, as long as I have my blush. Currently, my top 2 blushes are Tarte Amazonian clay blush in Blissful (pictured above), and NARS Amour blush.

Next, some kind of eyebrow product. I strongly believe that the eyebrows frame the face. So therefore, they need to be done nicely, and have an enhancing color in them to help frame. I was using CoverGirl eyeshadow in Brown Smolder as my powder, but received the Victoria Jackson eyebrow pencil in an Ipsy bag, and wanted to try something different. I don't have a preference in which product I prefer, just as long as it is a nice color that can be applied easily and quickly.

I use to think that I NEEDED eye liner to look better. Although eye liner helps make my eyes look bigger and elongated, I personally feel that the mascara is the more beneficial product. An "eyeliner" effect can  be created using the mascara on the bottom lashes, and lots of mascara on the lashes can make the eye look bolder as it can provide definition, length and volume. My favorite mascara has sadly been buried since it was getting past the 6 month mark, but I have been experimenting with different mini mascaras to help me find another great one. Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is definitely a good choice and I love the look it gives to my lashes.

Finally, a lip product is another thing I would need. My lips have pretty much no color in them. They are pale; so some kind of lip product is needed to enhance my lips. I like to stick to conservative, office appropriate shades that aren't too bright, but nothing too neutral either. The perfect in between color. Above in the picture, I have MAC Patisserie lipstick.

What are your 5 products you can't live without?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink | Revlon Just Bitten Sweetheart

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart is a cool hot pink shade. Since it is a stain, the color will stay on the lips for quite a while, even after drinking or eating. Once the color starts to disappear, a lighter version of the color will remain on the lips as the stain.

The Kissable Balm Stains have a minty scent, and when applied they are not dry, but they are not smooth either. Just make sure to wear some lip balm underneath and exfoliate the lips prior to using the balm stains since the stain will stay on the dry patches.

Don't forget to link up your "pink" posts in the link below! I would love to see your nail polish, makeup, or fashion related posts! Just make sure its all about pink ;)

Tarte of Giving: Pure Delights Lipsurgene | Holiday 2013

I was finally able to pick up one of the Tarte Holiday 2013 gift sets. I purchased the Pure Delights Lipsurgence, which was $34 for 8 mini lippies. Each of them are 0.06 oz, which is a bit more than half of the original Lipsurgence (0.1 oz).

The kit included 4 lip tints, and 4 matte lip tints. It was my first time using the matte ones, and let me just say, both versions glide on smoothly and are creamy feeling. They all have the minty scent which I personally love.

Lip Tints:
Grateful - nude
Lovely - mauve pink
Believe - warm pink
Enamored cool red

Matte Lip Tints:
Generous - pinkish nude
Cheerful - coral
Glee - watermelon
Destined - raspberry

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink | Bite Beauty Vidal

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In honor of it, on Wednesdays, I would like to wear pink lipstick and throughout the month wear pink nail polish. (I know I am a day late, but I was unable to post it yesterday!)
Today's pink lip is Bite Beauty Vidal. It is described as a raspberry pink. If you windshield wipe it onto your lips, it comes out a lot darker than what is above. I just put some on, then removed some of it by dabbing. The pigmentation and texture of Bite Beauty lipsticks are wonderful, and they are very creamy.

I would love for YOU to participate in On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. You can link up below for the entire month. It should be fun! Just add your link in the widget!

YSL | Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking Mascara

"Exaggerate your lashes with shocking volume from every angle!" This phrase right here is what pushed me to get this mascara. I had heard great things about it and went out to try it.
Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking
First thing that drew me in was the packaging. The tube of the mascara is the most beautiful I have ever seen! A gold packaging with the name of the mascara nicely written is gorgeous.

The brush is bristled with a helical shape. The wand/brush can get a little bit clumpy and have excess product on it, but I just wipe if off, back into the mascara opening.

The first few times I used it, my lashes got very clumpy because the formula was very wet. After some uses, it got a bit drier and the formula was better, therefore less clumps were seen.

YSL Shocking mascara provided me with good volume although the lengthening property was just average. Throughout the day, I did notice some of the mascara flaking off, but it was minimal.

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking mascara retails for $30, which is VERY pricy for a mascara. I did not find this mascara to be amazing though. I may love the packaging, but the result I was expecting was not there. I was expecting long, thick, luscious lashes. Unfortunately it was a product that was very hyped up, yet did not get the thumbs up from me. I'm not saying it is bad, because it isn't...it just didn't live up to what I thought it would be.
