Battle of the Hair Treatments

Since dying my hair blonde, it has been very dry and has split ends! I'm trying to do everything possible for my hair to feel healthy again: soft, non frizzy, and manageable.

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is a hair reconstructor that will penetrate and rebuild damaged hair for improved shine and elasticity.
This has been such a hype among the beauty community; many people loved it, while others saw no difference.
Before making a commitment to buying the full size (which quite frankly is expensive), I got the mini pack to test it out. The pack lasted me about 4-5 uses, which is pretty good.
After shampooing my hair, I used this instead of my conditioner and left it on for 7 minutes. Once I rinsed and dried my hair, it felt soft and manageable. Definitely deep conditioned.
This masque is $33 for 8.5oz.
Verdict: I WILL purchase!

Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment
An intensive weekly treatment that nourishes each strand, increasing strength and manageability, leaving hair soft, shiny and smooth.
I got this as a Sephora 500 point perk. After shampooing, I also applied the treatment and left it on for 7 minutes. After rinsing and drying my hair, I felt no difference whatsoever. It felt the same as before, a bit on the dry side. I will use up the sample, but will not repurchase.
This one is the most expensive of the bunch: $42 for 8 oz.

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment
A rich, velvety balm that dramatically helps repair damaged hair.
This hair treatment is suppose to help repair damaged hair, but it did nothing as well. It starts off in a solid like consistency,  but when you warm it between your hands, it turns into an oil.
For this one, I applied it before washing my hair and let it set for 20 minutes. As I said earlier, it did nothing. Plus, this stuff smells disgusting. Pretty much, I smelled like a smoker, and that was not very pleasant.
This one is $33 for 3.1oz, which in all honesty comes out more expensive per ounce. You get a lot less product for the price.

Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment Plus
Ojon's cult-classic restorative treatment reformulated with a new lighter scent and fortified with Rouge Oleifera
This stuff is suppose to be better at repairing damage, but the results were the same as its sister, the Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. It does smell better, which is a plus, but the performance is also lacking in this treatment.
It also is $33 for 3.1oz.

Final decision, I definitely want to get the Macadamia Oil Deep Masque Repair, and try the oil also.

What are some of your favorite hair masques/treatments that help with your hair?

The Fall Edit, Ep. 4 | Red Lips

Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss 01
Rimmel Kate Moss 01 was the first red lipstick I owned. Sure, I may have had Revlon Candy Apple lip butter, but I mean a true red lipstick.
I use to be scared of wearing a red lip, but overcame that fear and bought this lipstick earlier this year. I may still be intimidated to wear it, (after all, it's not my go-to style!), but its nice to have a classic red lip.

The Fall Edit, Ep. 3 | Red Nails

I had a difficult time figuring out which red nail polish I should use for this episode. I have several reds: this one, a matte one, a glittery one, and a metallic one. But I chose the Estée Lauder Pure Red nail polish.
This mini nail polish was part of a set that I bought last year that came with 4 Estée Lauder nail polishes. Some were discontinued, like Porcelain, but the others still stand.
I love EL polishes because they glide on so smoothly and evenly and have great coverage. However, I do not like the price tag. Although it is pricy, I definitely think you get what you pay for. If you can, check it out and buy one!

CoverGirl Enhancers Coffee Shop

CoverGirl was probably one of the first makeup lines that I used when I began to wear makeup. It started off with just a face powder, mascara, and lipgloss. Never did I think I would get eyeshadow from them one day.
The only eyeshadow I have used from them so far is the single shadow, Brown Smolder. I use it to fill in my eyebrows, although I could probably go for more of a taupe color. Regardless, the eyeshadow works well.
I bought this CoverGirl 4-quad Enhancers eyeshadow in Coffee Shop because of the warm toned shades. I find that these colors are perfect for the fall season since it has the warm brown, coppery brown, yellow, and pearlescent ivory.
The eyeshadows are pretty smooth and apply nicely. These quads are perfect for when you want a complete eye look in one set. Mine is currently depotted in my $5 DIY Z-Palette (here).

The Fall Edit Ep. 2 | Green Eye Makeup

Here is episode two of the Fall Edit Tag on Like A Candy Shop

1. For the base, I used the original Urban Decay Primer Potion to prime my lids.
2. Next, I used my Too Faced Romantic Eyeshadow Palette (reviewed here).
I placed "Bouquet Toss" all over my lid, from base of eyelashes to the brow bone. I placed "Honeymoon" in the crease.
3. For the deeper green shade, I got my theBalm "Balm Jovi" palette and used "Lead Zeppelin" in the outer v-corner of the eye.
4. Next, I created a mini cat eye with my Tarte Aqualillies Clay eyeliner.
5. I applied Stila Smudgestick in "Stingray" to my lower water line.
6. Finally, I used the YSL Shocking Mascara and coated my upper and lower eyelashes.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme lipstick | Fig

Hello everybody! Hope you had a fantastic weekend. I know today is Monday and there is no "Mani Monday" post, but I did do a nail polish post this past Saturday (click here)!

Without further ado, today I am reviewing the Bite Beauty Luminous Créme lipstick in the shade Fig. I had seen many of these lip products at Sephora and online, but was not interested in them. It wasn't until I saw it on Tiffany from MakeupbyTiffanyD, that I knew I had to get it.

The lipstick comes in a grayish tube that feels a bit rubberized, very similar to Nars blushes.  On the lipstick, there is an engraved "B" for Bite Beauty. The lipstick goes on like butter and keeps lips feeling moisturized and creamy.
Fig is described as a nude rose. I find it more pink than a nude rose, but it is very natural looking. It is not a bright crazy pink, but it is bright enough that you can wear it everyday or in the office.

The Fall Edit Ep. 1 | Green Nails

Hey everyone! Right now I am taking a mini break from studying to write this post. I have had a hectic week at school and it will continue for the next two weeks (EEK!). Any-hoo, yesterday I saw an Instagram post from Elsa at Like A Candy Shop, and she made her own tag. It looked like fun and decided to hop on!
The first installation is "green nails". I am not a fan of green nails, but looked into my nail polish collection and found L'Oreal Safari Chic. I believe I bought this last summer when I was going through a "hoard every single color of the rainbow nail polish stage".
Safari Chic is a mixture between army and sage green. A dupe for it could be Essie Sew Psyched. This nail polish is a different taste that what I normally go for, but its good to try new things out.

Look out for more posts about this Fall Edit, and be sure to check out Elsa's blog!

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I know I just jumped on the wagon for this product, but it was definitely worth the wait. I have had my eye on this palette for some time, but did not buy it for several reasons: 1) it was very expensive, 2) why would I need shimmery eyeshadows when I prefer matte, and 3) why do I need more eyeshadows that what I already own.
Well, maybe the last two reasons may not be for everyone, but I held off on this palette for majority of the time because the eyeshadows were very shimmery and did not find a need for them.
(Enter YouTube eye makeup tutorials).
I saw MANY tutorials that used shimmery eye shadows and it looked lovely. They just give a  beautiful effect to the eyes.
I finally decided to take the plunge and bought this beautiful, hyped up, 12 eyeshadow palette.

This palette is a bit pricy at $50, but it comes with an eyeshadow brush and a deluxe sized sample of the original Urban Decay Primer Potion. What made the purchase a bit friendlier, was the fact that I had a Sephora merchandise credit, so in reality, I only paid $16 for it, which is pretty neat!

Of the twelve eyeshadows, two are matte. The other ten have beautiful shimmers. Of the ten shimmery ones, three have the glitters. The glitter does tend to fall out onto the area under your circles, but if you apply it carefully on your lid, you can avoid that mess.
The consistency of each shadow is buttery smooth. They all have high pigmentation and are beautiful neutral colors.
This palette is mostly on the warmer spectrum. The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is more on the cool side. I therefore chose the Naked Palette because I tend to prefer the warmer tones.

Here are the different shadow colors, from left to right:
(S= shimmery, M= matte, GL= glitter)
Row 1
Virgin (S), Sin (S), Naked (M)
Row 2
Sidecar (GL), Buck (M), Half Baked (S)
Row 3
Smog (S), Darkhorse (S), Toasted (S)
Row 4
Hustle (S), Creep (GL), Gunmetal (GL)

My favorite colors are Toasted and Half Baked.
This is a great palette to use all year round if you want the warmer neutrals such as browns, golds, coppers, etc. That is why I am specifically using it for the autumn!

FOTD: Hello Autumn!

Surprise! Today's post is a Face of the Day! I haven't done one in such a long time because my makeup has been pretty much the same. But I tried a new mascara technique and used a deeper lip today.

Make-Up
- bareMinerals Original Foundation in Fairly Light
- NARS Amour blush
Eyes
- Urban Decay Naked palette
- Tarte Amazonian clay liner
- YSL Babydoll mascara
- Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara
Lips
- MAC Plumful (lustre finish)
For the eyes, I applied Sin all over my lids. Next I took Toasted and slightly put it in the crease, and highlighted my brow bone and inner corners with Virgin.
The mascara technique I used was layering two different mascaras. I have been hesitant in layering mascaras because I did not want them to clump. After curling my lashes, I applied 2 coats of YSL Babydoll mascara, and after used 1 coat of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

I am so glad that I jumped into the world of lip products. A year ago, I was scared of wearing lipsticks because I thought my lips would be screaming for attention. Shades of Fall | Top 3 Blushes

As the change of weather turns from summer to fall, so does our makeup. Although corals would still be acceptable (actually, any blush is fine! haha), I like to base my makeup off of the seasons. Fall reminds me of wines, plums, browns, muted pinks, etc.
My top 3 blushes of this season are NARS Lovejoy, Tarte Blushing Bride, and NARS Amour.

NARS Lovejoy is a shimmering bronzed rose. This blush is more on the "nude" side. I find it very comparable to Tarte Exposed and did a comparing post about them here.

Tarte Blushing Bride was the first Tarte blush I purchased. This one is categorized as a plumy rose. It has shimmer in it, but isn't completely noticeable on the skin. It gives a nice glow to my cheeks.
NARS Amour is the most recent addition to my blush family. It is categorized as a peachy pink and is matte. I asked the Sephora saleswoman what would be a great fall blush for me. She immediately pointed me to this one saying that this blush would work perfectly for my colorings.

My Monthly Makeup Bag | September

September, the month when fall technically begins. I'm so excited for this new season. I can not stress enough to you all how much I love fall! Unfortunately for me, where I live, we don't see much of the changing seasons, BUT there is a nice little autumn breeze that flows in and out in the fall.

This month, I will be retrying the BareMinerals Original foundation. The last time I used the original was about 5 years ago, but decided to switch to the matte version. However, I did not like it much and hopefully I will like the original one again! To set it all, I will use the bareMinerals Mineral Veil.

Concealer will consist of the Bobbi Brown Corrector for under my eyes, and the Tarte Smooth Operator Concealer for blemishes.

For bronzer, I will be using the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. It is a deluxe sized sample that was part of the Sephora Favorites In The Glow kit. For blush, I will use the NARS Amour. It is a beautiful peachy pink color.

I will continue to use my CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Brown Smolder for my eyebrows and set it with the Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara.

I think the Urban Decay Naked Palette is perfect to use during these fall months. I will be priming my lids with the original Urban Decay Primer Potion. This one came with the Naked palette.

I will be using the Tarte Aqualillies Amazonian clay liner (reviewed here), for a winged eye look, and the Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude for the lower rim. For mascara, I am using the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara.

Finally for lips, I will be wearing the MAC Plumful lipstick. It is a lustre finish and has a beautiful color, perfect for September.
