Mix Matched?

I don't really understand why I even bother to get matched with foundations at Sephora. They always match me few shades too dark. I even told the sales associate that I was thinking of something lighter and she told me it would pale me out. I also told her I wanted my neck and face to match (my neck is much lighter than my face), and I guess she didn't take a good look at my neck! Well, I liked the foundation I tried, just not the color. I know if I decide to get this foundation I will DEFINITELY go lighter! Plus I will go for more of a neutral tone, not yellow.
Lesson of the day: I should do the matching myself, and then ask for their opinion on which ones is best from what I have chosen.
Does anyone else get matched wrong?

  1. Ugh, it's happened to me before at an Estee Lauder counter. I was not happy. The sales rep said the same thing - that a lighter shade would wash me out! Geesh, sometimes I wonder how they're trained. But yeah, I learned my lesson too hahaha ;)

    1. I wonder too! But there was a SA at Estee Lauder that once told me that the foundation should be exactly your skin color because it is just a base. Color (blush and bronzer) is added later to make up that perfect skin glow.

  2. Yes! It happened for me with Estee Lauder as well...just a couple months ago. Except I was ghost face, and had to apply the foundation all down my neck until I bought a new one. So annoying! I will never take their opinions seriously anymore. Like you, I know my shades best :)

I found you on the blog hop, and I'm following you now! Here's my blog if you'd like to follow back :) xo
