Rimmel Stay Matte Dream Team

Rimmel London has had the Stay Matte pressed powder for quite some time now. Just recently, Rimmel launched two new additions to the Stay Matte family: the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse foundation and the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer.

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
The primer has an ultra lightweight formula that is suppose to minimize the look of pores and control oil for up to 8 hours. The primer can be used alone, underneath makeup, or on top of makeup. The primer starts off as a white slightly thick texture and blends into the skin perfectly. My skin feels soft and the look of pores is minimized a bit. As far as oil control, it does a decent job on its own. Under other foundations, it works alright, but with the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation, it works! I have yet to use it on top of makeup because I'm not sure how that would work, if you know, please let me know =)

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation
I won't go into much detail here as I already have a post dedicated to this foundation, (click here). As I have already mentioned, this foundation is also a lightweight formula that has medium coverage. It covers up all my imperfections and redness. Be aware, though, as it can get cakey if you apply too much. Start off with a small amount, then increase if needed. A little goes a long way with this foundation.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Most likely the most popular product in this collection, the pressed powder offers natural shine control for up to 5 hours. If you apply too much, your face may look powdery, so keep application at a minimum. My face stays matte for up to 4 hours, which is pretty good. I have recently repurchased this  since I ran out of my other one. I buy 01 Transparent, although I've heard that the shades will look natural as well. I might call this a holy grail powder because I have repurchased it and it does help to control oils.
L-R: Stay Matte Primer and the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

I used all of the products in conjunction today to see how they complimented each other. The primer set the canvas perfectly for the foundation. The foundation clings on well to the primer and stays in place all day. On top of the foundation, I applied the powder for extra oil control. I didn't start to get shiny until 5-6 hours after application, which says a lot for me. Overall, I think the dream team works perfectly together. Get a chance to check it out and try them all together! The three products together truly is a dream team!

  1. Great review! I have oily skin and the three products together sounds like it would work great for me! They're permanent, right? I want to use up some foundations (if that ever happens) first before I try out new ones.

    1. This one isn't too yellow at all. I don't know what shade you are, but the one I have is more neutral/pinky toned.

  8. I completely agree with what you call them, "the dream team", I actually wrote that in my review of the mousse foundation but haven't posted it yet! I ordered mine form asos because rimmel is hard to find here in singapore. It's so amazingly lightweight and matches sooo well! I too also used the stay matte powder on top and it works so well. I really would love to try the primer! I haven't seen it before!

    1. That's so funny! If two or more people have those thoughts, then its got to be true lol. I believe the primer just recently came out, either along with the foundation or a little bit later

  9. Very lovely post! I only own the foundation and the powder. I think the foundation is one of those alright/eh foundations. Not exceptional. Maybe I should try it with the primer, like you said. However, I have gigantic pores...so I really look for that in a primer and it sounds like this one doesnt do that great of a job? I dunno, I might have to try it just to complete my collection :) Once again, great post though Des!

    1. For me, the foundation works best when a little bit is used. If I over apply, it looks just alright and is not its full potential. The primer is affordable, so there isn't much to loose if you try it. It is decent on its own, like I mentioned, but with the Stay matte foundation it works well. I don't have big pores so I do not know, but for my pores, it does conceal them a bit =) Thanks for reading!

  10. This is a great post I have been unsure if to buy these 3 products for a while. I use the powder at the moment but have never really loved it. However the I'm on the hunt for a new primer so I will be picking this up, great review.
