Buxom True Hue Blush ~ Swept Away

Spring is just around the corner and so are light springy colors! Every where you look, they seem to be there. It brings a nice, fresh, and romantic look. Buxom Swept Away blush is such a product that reminds me of spring. Even the name of it is great!

I never knew Buxom had blushes until I got Swept Away in the giveaway I won. It is from the Buxom True Hue Blush line. The blush retails for $24 and can be found exclusively at Sephora or on Bare Escentual's website. I think the shade is gorgeous! It is a peachy nude, although I see a bit of pink it in as well. The swatch is pretty pigmented, but since it is a light shade, I have to build it up on my cheeks to note that it is there. I don't mind building up colors because it is much easier to add on blush then take away if you applied too much! 

The packaging has magnets that keep the lid closed, and there is also a mirror inside. 

 Buxom says that these blushes have a featherweight formula. They are definitely correct! The blush feels very light weight on the skin. I have never realized it before, but there are some blushes that feel heavier then others.

The staying power is fine. Because Swept Away is a sheerer shade, it will fade quicker than a darker blush, but I still think it holds up pretty well throughout the day.

Today I used my new Tarte Call of the Wild eyeshadow palette. I'm not fond of shimmery shadows because of fall out, but I'm very happy to say that they don't have fall out! So I LOVE it!

I'm still trying to master the art of applying shadow, but I don't wear it on a normal basis so I don't have much time to practice. But I really love the look eyeshadow gives! Looks like I will need to practice to make it perfect ;)

Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream in Cherry Flip

Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream is a lipgloss that is used to make lips look fuller and more voluptuous. I bought Cherry Flip at Sephora for $19.00.  Cherry Flip is a red poppy color. I chose this lip gloss because it is free of shimmer and glitter, and it tingles! Whenever I have a tingly lipgloss on, I feel more refreshed. The formula is creamy and not sticky. It had a nice smoothness. Does it plump? I can see a little difference in my lips, they do become a little fuller, but I'm not looking for anything drastic either. I like a natural fullness.

I think the packaging is so cute! I love the frosted bottle. It comes with a sponge tip applicator. 

Here is the swatch on my lips and my arm. You can see that pigment of lips does make a difference on the shade of the color. The lip gloss is nicely pigmented. 

Here I am wearing it today! I applied it more lightly because I did not want to have such a big burst of color at the moment.

"Nude" Blush Swatches + Sephora Haul

I have been doing some research about what "nude" blush to buy. When I say nude, I mean a blush that is a cross between a blush and a bronzer. This kind of product can eliminate a step of a makeup routine from applying a blush and a bronzer separately. This is ideal on days were you may be short on time and in a hurry. That being said, I was looking at swatches that look similar to Tarte Exposed. I love Tarte blushes, but I wanted to see what else is in the market, and find a good shade for me.  

I wanted to buy one of these blushes so I decided to get myself to Sephora and swatch for myself blushes that look more similar then ones I saw online. I took these pictures when I got home. The top one is indoors, and the bottom is outdoors. 

 

L-R: Lancome Rouge Glow, Nars Lovejoy, Tarte Exposed, Laura Mercier Spiced Cider

Rouge Glow and Lovejoy look similar, but Lovejoy is more plumy. Spiced Cider is more on the yellow brown side. Exposed is more on the rosy side out of all of them. 

And the one I ended up buying was.........Nars Lovejoy!!!!!

I also bought Tarte LipSurgence Tint in Joy, Buxom Lip Cream in Cherry Flip, and a mini Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.

I usually ask for samples at the checkout, and here is what they gave me:

I thought that was great! Usually they give very tiny samples, but this is a deluxe sized sample! Unfortunately, the Bare Minerals original foundation is a very dark shade, so I might just use it as a contour color until I finish it. It also came with a mini brush and the Active Cell Renewal Night Serum. 

Nars Lovejoy looks more reddish brown here, but you can see in the swatches that it does not come out that dark.
